The wait is over...Ajith's 'Valimai' finally gets a new release date!

After episodes of wait and deferment, which were caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown, Ajith's much-awaited Valimai is all set to hit the big screens with a new release date. The fans of the actor finally had a moment to celebrate with the hope that another deferment won't be in store as they had braced up a long wait with more expectations.

As speculated, Valimai will get released ahead of Vijay's Beast and after a month of skipping the Pongal release, owing to the pandemic and restrictions. The fans were expecting that the new date will be announced soon and on Wednesday- February 2, the fans have got what they waited for. Valimai producer Boney Kapoor took to Twitter and said that the movie will get released on February 24, 2022.

He wrote, "Actions speak louder than words. The wait is well & truly over. Feel the power on 24th Feb, in cinemas worldwide." Earlier, the movie was scheduled to get released on January 13 and it was later postponed in light of the emergence of the third wave of the pandemic. Though the movie is all set to hit the screens later this month, which has relished the fans, it will pour a challenge for the theatres to maintain the 50% occupancy in Tamil Nadu, as per the government's mandate.

Along with Valimai, several top movies had also got deferred and they are targeting the release during March and April. The Valimai team has decided to serve the movie before March and locked the date as February 24. The news of the new release date has been going viral on social media and the expectation around the movie has been growing larger not only for being Ajith's first movie in three years but also for the ensemble crew and the storyline.

Amid the push to defer the release, the fans were settled with the movie's theme song, making video, and a rocking trailer that has promised Ajith in a new avatar. With the release, Valimai will be one of the iconic movies in the Indian cinema in 2022. It will be released in five languages - Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada. Moreover, the team has delivered a theatrical release, which it stood for to relish the fans.

Earlier, the indefinite postponement of the movie had brought the prospect to the movie team to switch over their release on the OTT. It was reported that a top OTT platform has approached the movie with a deal of Rs 300 crore. However, the team has denied the offer and asserted that the movie has been made for a theatrical release. The movie has been made on a budget of Rs 150 crore.

Valimai is produced by Boney Kapoor under the banner of Bayview Projects and directed by H Vinoth. While Ajith plays the lead role, Huma Qureshi, Kartikeya Gummakonda, Gurbani Judge, Yogi Babu, Selva, GM Sundar, and Pavel Navageethan play the important roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music and Nirav Shah and Vijay Velukutty had done cinematography and editing respectively.
