Actor Suriya has on Friday paid his respect to Sandalwood Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar at the latter's resting place in Bangalore. Suriya was accompanied by producers SR Prabhu, Gnanavelraja, and Puneeth's elder brother Shiva Rajkumar and he placed a garland beneath Puneeth's portrait and paid his tribute. Shakened by the sudden demise of the Kannada superstar, Suriya had broken down with tears at the memorial and he had apparently braced up how he was disturbed over the death of Puneeth Rajkumar.

A video of Suriya paying obituary for the 46-year-old actor was going viral on social media and speaking to the reporters at the memorial, Suriya had conveyed his condolences to Shiva Rajkumar, his family members, and fans. Suriya said, "I am still not able to accept what has happened. My family and Anna's (Shiva Rajkumar) family are very close to each other. Appa (Sivakumar) had spent a lot of time with his (Shiva Rajkumar) family."

Suriya recalled a touching moment when he met Puneeth for the first time. He said, "Puneeth and I met for the first time when our mothers were pregnant. My mom was four months pregnant with me, while Puneety's mom was seven months pregnant with him. This was our first meeting. Amma shared this with me and they cannot accept his demise." "He had a smiling face always and I only had heard about all the good things he had done in his life. We will hold on to the memories and will keep him smiling in our hearts", Suriya added.

He further said, "I pray for more strength to his family, his daughters, fans, and all the Kannadigas. I will terribly miss him. My prayers and deepest condolences to his family." Suriya had also visited Puneeth Rajkumar's residence and solaced his family. Puneeth Rajkumar was fondly called a Power star and for his fans, this Diwali was filled with dusk as he had passed away on October 29 in Bengaluru at the age of 46 due to cardiac arrest.

He had complained of chest pain while he was working out in a gym during the morning hours of October 29 and he was immediately rushed to the hospital. He was brought in a critical state and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Despite the treatment, Puneeth had breathed his last during the same day and left his fans to grieve incessantly. The death of the young icon had drawn attention from across and beyond the borders and his body was kept at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru for the public to pay homage. In an unprecedented fashion, lakhs and lakhs of people had flooded towards the stadium and paid their tribute to the deceased actor.

Puneeth Rajkumar's body was laid to rest last Sunday at the Kanteerava Studio with full state honours and several political leaders had paid tribute to the power star, who had left a remarkable legacy. In the footsteps of his father, legendary actor Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar's eyes were donated as he was agreed for donating his eyes after his death. His eyes had given vision for four young people and it must be noted that his mother Parvathamma's eyes were also donated. Puneeth was survived by his wife Ashwini Revanth, and two daughters, Vandhitha and Drithi Rajkumar.
