Watch: PM Modi's birthday celebration in Chennai was ended with a huge explosion!

In a shocking mishap, the birthday celebrations of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai was busted by a sudden explosion of hydrogen balloons, that had left a dozen to sustain minor injuries and the organizer of the gathering had invited trouble after he was booked by the police as the sequel of organizing the event, that has been restricted in the state. 

According to reports, Tamil Nadu BJP's Farmers Wing had organized a public event in Padi, Chennai to celebrate the Prime Minister's birthday on Friday. (Modi celebrated his 70th birthday on Thursday). The event was led by BJP Farmers Wing Vice-president Muthuraman and it was attended by several party members and the celebrations hadn't lasted for long after the event had witnessed a sudden mishap where the scores of hydrogen balloons that were about to release in the air had exploded. 

The video of the mishap was widely circulated across social media in which a group of people was seen rubbing their shoulders for a picture and the BJP Farmers wing vice-president was standing in the middle with a large garland on him. 

 

As they posed for the picture, the sound of crackers was heard in the background and when the members were preparing to release the balloons, some eventually had got exploded and the fire from the explosion had occupied the scene and injured dozens. 

The reports say that a spark from the firecrackers is said to have set the balloons to explode. Around 12 people have sustained minor injuries following the explosion and they were taken to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for further treatments, whereas, BJP functionary Muthuraman was admitted to a private hospital with burn injuries. 

Following the incident, the Korattur police have registered a case against the members for organizing a gathering without obtaining prior permission. The police department said that around 100 people have gathered for the event and they were holding hundreds of balloons filled with hydrogen gas. They had planned to release about 2000 balloons into the air. However, their plan was busted after some of the gas-filled balloons had exploded.

The development has come despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi had instructed the party members to strictly adhere to the social distancing norms, wear facemasks at the public places, and refrain from the large-scale gathering. However, the event had shown that the members had let their leader's words go on air to celebrate his birthday.
