'Destination is always Tamil Nadu': A R Rahman's sweet catch-up with Ilaiyaraaja goes viral! Watch the video

Oscar-winning music composer A R Rahman and musical maestro Ilaiyaraaja spent a short and sweet time together at the Chennai airport on Thursday - September 1 as both the legendary icons landed in the city from different continents after wrapping up their concerts. The video clip released by A R Rahman has been going viral and has drawn huge attention. 

In the video, the icons were seen seated next to each other in a battery car as they leave the airport. A R Rahman released the video on Instagram and wrote, "We are returning from different continents...but destination is always Tamil Nadu." Reacting to the video, A R Rahman's son Ameen left a heart emoji while young musician Lydian Nadhaswaram wrote, "Masters." 

A R Rahman had finished his months-long North American tour 'All Access A R Rahman'. Along with his team, the iconic composer has conducted concerts in major cities in Canada and the United States. His tour started from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on July 15 and he wrapped up his tour on August 28 by conducting the last concert in Toronto, Canada. 

In this long stretch, he has travelled and conducted concerts in major US cities including Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Detroit, Chicago, and Boston. A R Rahman is now all gearing up to participate in the audio and trailer launch of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan' which will be held on September 6 at Jawarharlal Nehru Indoor stadium in Chennai. The movie will be getting released in the theatres on September 30. 

On the other hand, maestro Ilaiyaraaja was in Budapest, Hungary for a couple of days and he arrived in Chennai on Thursday where A R Rahman greeted his master. Earlier, Ilaiyaraaja shared pictures of fog-clad Budapest and wrote, "Beautiful Budapest view from my hotel room." On the work front, Ilaiyaraaja awaits the release of the movie 'Ninaivellam Neeyada' which is his 1,417th film as the music composer.
