Watch: When Naatu Naatu creates history! The RRR team shines with the Golden Globes

The entire world bopped along with the stars as Junior NTR and Ram Charan's 'Naatu Naatu' dance movie synced up with Keeravani's upbeat beats. When the song was shortlisted, folks were already convinced that it would win the Golden Globe and bring the award home. And so it was as the film's team celebrated the triumphant announcement that the song had won the Golden Globe for Best Original Song. Jerrod Carmichael, a comedian host the this year Golden Globes in Los Angeles.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, the film's official handle shared the moment of announcing the award. They penned, "And the GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD FOR BEST ORIGINAL SONG Goes to #NaatuNaatu #GoldenGlobes  #GoldenGlobes2023  #RRRMovie". The video of team instantly blast out of rejoice and loud claps on the film's composer MM Keeravani when he goes to the stage. All Quiet on the Western Front (Germany), Close (Belgium), and Decision to Leave (South Korea), are also up for the award.

Lauding the team, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi penned a congratulating note, which reads, "A very special accomplishment! Compliments to @mmkeeravaani , Prem Rakshith, Kaala Bhairava, Chandrabose, @Rahulsipligunj . I also congratulate @ssrajamouli , @tarak9999 , @AlwaysRamCharan and the entire team of @RRRMovie . This prestigious honour has made every Indian very proud."

Sharing the win, the official page of Golden Globe Awards, wrote, "Your song "Naatu Naatu" just won Best Orignal Song  Huge congratulations, @mmkeeravaani @rrrmovie . #GoldenGlobes". Earlier Rajamouli won Best Director at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards for his work on RRR. The film which has earned over 1,200 crore worldwide. Adding to this, RRR has also entered itself for consideration in a number of Oscar categories, and it is widely anticipated that it will receive nominations in at least one of these categories.

The M.M. Keeravani-composed, Kala Bhairava-and-Rahul Sipligunj-sung "Naatu Naatu" is a bustling, cheerful number. It's also noteworthy that "Naatu Naatu" is the first Indian song also to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Prem Rakshit, the song's choreographer, claimed to have written nearly 95 dances to go along with the tune, including 30 variations on the song's signature step in the chorus alone. It was a fun mash-up of dance genres ranging from a traditional Bollywood jig to a bit of Gangnam Style gallop that emerged about 19 months after the initial discussion.
