Watch: YG Madhuvanthi opens up about sexual allegation on a teacher in her grandmother's PSBB school!

As the reputation of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) School in Chennai hangs in balance over the shocking sexual allegation charges against a male teacher of the school and the management's apathy in addressing the complaints from the students against the teacher, YG Madhuvanthi, the granddaughter of the school founder YG Rajalakshmi, has opened up about the allegations amid growing outrage against the educational institution.

Madhuvanthi is the daughter of veteran actor YG Mahendra and a State Executive Committee Member of the BJP. Her response has come when several social media users urged YG Mahendra, who is the trustee of the school, to answer the allegations awfully unfolded to the students by a teacher, who was working in the school for two decades. In a video, Madhuvanthi said that she was an alumnus of the school and she doesn't run it.

She claimed that she and her father Mahendra were deeply concerned about the allegations and wanted justice to be served. She asserted that though the school was founded by her grandmother YG Rajalakshmi, she has no role to play in the school management and its administration. Addressing the claims that she owns the school, Madhuvanthi said, "You keep saying that this is my school. You're right. It is my school because I studied there. I don't run the school".

She said, "This (sexual allegation) is definitely a disgusting thing and an appropriate legal action would be taken. Neither I nor my father has a second thought about it. A disgusting incident has come to my notice. A student has placed a strong allegation and complaint against a teacher in this school. The news reached me and my father YG Mahendra on Sunday night. My father is not part of the management, he doesn't run the school. He is a trustee and as soon as he learned about the incident, he sent a mail to the Dean and the director of the school to take immediate action."

She further stated, "A major fret for me and my father that the incident was damaging the name and legacy of the late YG Rajalakshmi, who founded the school. My grandmother Mrs YG Rajalakshmi had created this great institution with blood, sweat, and hard work and no harm should come to her legacy. We will not remain silent if her legacy is tossed up. By citing that pouring religion into the matter is bad politics, she asserted that her family will support the government fully in its actions.

She said, "At this point, we have heard that the teacher has been suspended and we believe that this is the right step, as it will give confidence to the students and parents." "At the same time, let us not be swayed by politics based on caste and religion disseminated by fringe groups who have vested interests. This involves a girl's life and please take it seriously. The school management has to answer the allegation and I am certain they will, both as a granddaughter of YG Rajalakshmi and as an alumnus of the school", Madhuvanthi added.

On Monday, Chennai police had arrested the accused teacher Rajagopalan for sexually harassing the students. The police had booked him under the POCSO Act and recovered his laptop and mobile phone. Rajagopalan was sent to judicial custody for 15 days and he has been lodged in Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai. The allegation has come to light on Sunday when some of the former and current students of the school had accused Rajagopalan of his appalling behaviour. The students say that they had complained to the school management previously to take action against Rajagopalan but it had failed to pay heed to their complaints. However, the Dean has claimed that the sexual allegations against the teacher have not been brought to the attention of the management in the past.
