Watch: 'Your mom is worried about you'...How Lalu Prasad Yadav's advice to Rahul Gandhi sparked laughter?

Veteran politician and Rastriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has sparked laughter, during the press conference in Patna, through his advice to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The brief laughter took place during a joint presser held by the Opposition leaders on Friday - June 23 in Patna, Bihar, after wrapping up their first round of meeting with an united objective to defeat the BJP regime in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

While a dozen of opposition leaders addressed about setting an agenda to contest unitedly in the general elections, Lalu Prasad Yadav sparked laughter by advising Rahul Gandhi to get married. He also said that the Congress leader is not hearing his advice and that his mother, former party's chief, Sonia Gandhi is worried that he is not getting married.

53-year-old Rahul Gandhi expressed a shy smile after hearing an unanticipated advice from Yadav. Amidst a mass gathering of the opposition leaders, Lalu Prasad Yadav said, "Rahul Gandhi did a good job with his Bharat Jodo Yatra. He should listen to us and get married now. Your mother always complains to us." By citing that he should have got married before, Yadav said, "It's not too late."

Yadav further said, "We would like to be a part of your wedding procession." With a shy smile, Rahul Gandhi responded to Yadav and said, "If you are saying then I will follow." The leaders who shared the stage, including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who hosted the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress general secretary Venugopal, and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren were seen smiling after Yadav's remarks.

Speaking about the opposition's unity to defeat BJP, Yadav said, "After many days, I am meeting you. We will discuss the future road map in Shimla. The people used to say, the Opposition remains divided and votes get divided. We are united now." The leaders then announced that the second round of meeting will be held in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh on July 12 and it will be hosted by the Congress party.

Speaking at the press conference, Nitish Kumar said that the leaders will meet in the next few days to give final shape to their plan of contesting together. Nitish Kumar said, "We had a good meeting and several leaders expressed their views during the meeting. 17 parties have decided to work together and contest the Lok Sabha elections unitedly." He further said that the opposition leaders are working in the national interest and accused the BJP of acting against the national interest as it was trying to challenge the country's history.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, "We have decided to prepare a common agenda and will take decisions in the next meeting on how to move forward.", while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "We may have some differences, but we have decided to work together with flexibility and will work to protect our ideology."
