As reputed playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has been battling against the COVID-19 by having his health taking a wrong turn, prayers and wishes across and beyond the borders have been pouring in for his speedy recovery as celebrities, fraternities, and fans have been sending their wishes to the hospitalized singer, who has been getting treated in the life support after tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection. 

As the celebrities had expressed their individual wishes and prayers for the singer's speedy recovery, Veteran Tamil Director Bharathiraja had called on for the mass prayer for SPB, in a bid to unite his fans. In his press release, Bharathiraja has appealed to the fans and other celebrities to conduct a mass prayer on August 20 for his speedy recovery and the director has called the fans of SPB across and beyond the borders to play his songs at 6 pm on Thursday and pray for him that he would have a recovery.

In his statement, Bharathiraja said, "Let's pray to Mother Nature to give back SPB. Ilaiyaraja, Rajinikanth, Vairamuthu, Kamal Haasan, AR Rahman, directors, film actors, musicians, producers, theater owners, distributors, and media people and billions of SPB fans across ad beyond the borders will play SPB songs at 6 pm on August 20 at their respective places and pray for his speedy recovery". He called everyone to be a part of the mass prayer to have a multilingual artist back.

Director Bharathiraja further recapped when the Tamil cinema fans came together for the mass prayer for the last time. He said everyone did a mass prayer last time for MGR when the latter was hospitalized and after such a prayer, MGR was back, and similarly, everyone will pray now for the recovery of SPB.

The veteran director said that SPB only knows to sow seeds of love and he is a wonderful artist. He added, "SPB should be back amongst us soon and we will get him back". On Tuesday, Bharathiraja had released a video message in which the director broken out with tears and said, "Baalu, you will come. If the mother nature is true, you will come back soon". On August 5, SPB has tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection and he initially said that he had very mild symptoms and he would be discharged in two days. However, the health condition of the playback singer took a wrong turn last week after the hospital said there was a setback in his condition and he has been moved to the ICU and getting treated under life support.

In his recent video message, SPB's son SPB Charan said that his father has been on the ventilator. He is getting monitored by the team of doctors of the MGM Healthcare hospital in Chennai and he has been getting good care and he appealed to the people to send the prayers continuously. According to the reports, the hospital administration has installed audio speakers at the floor where he has been getting treated and the hospital is playing his songs and the doctors are providing him around the clock treatment as the fans are hoping for the recovery of the multilingual artist who had sung over 40,000 songs in 16 Indian languages. According to the latest reports, following Bharathiraja, Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja had also called for mass prayer for the speedy recovery of the playback singer.
