'We have done that this year': MS Dhoni reveals as CSK walks into playoffs in style and power!

CSK has a pile of nail-biting finishes in its store in the history of IPL and what the fans had witnessed on Thursday was no less than a fashion of electrifying finish as MS Dhoni has led his fleet to taste a thrilling victory through his classy sixer. On Thursday, the Chennai Super Kings took on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Sharjah and while this match had added numbers to Hyderabad, this wasn't the case with Chennai as winning this match would traject the Men in Yellow to playoffs. Though there is no hardcore rivalry, it is always exciting to watch the CSK match.

On the other hand, the SRH was on the card and had been giving a good fight. CSK has won the toss and decided to bowl first and Dhoni's decision was worthy as the SRH batting line was destroyed by the CSK bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Dwayne Bravo. Hyderabad had lost wickets at regular intervals and was losing control over the game. Wriddhiman Saha played a sensible innings scoring 44 runs from 46 deliveries but it was only him. There was no energy and no real partnership in SRH's batting. Hazlewood picked up three wickets and Bravo dismissed 2 batsmen.

The much-expected duo Williamson and Holder couldn't deliver anything to their side through their batting. The Sunrisers scored 134 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. The brilliant bowling of CSK had to be credited for containing one of the most dangerous batting lineups in the IPL. The target seemed easy for CSK as the team has been sparkling brighter in this season through the impressive performances of all formats. However, cricket is a game where nothing can be predicted and CSK must pat itself for having an outstanding opening pair. The talented duo Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis had done excellently this time too through their opening partnership.

Both the openers scored 40+ runs before being dismissed. The required run rate was under control and with such a good opening partnership, the CSK had gone past 100 runs in 14 overs. When it was only a matter of time for them to finish it off, the Sunrisers were back into the game by dismissing Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina and Faf back to back. The CSK were 108 for four all of a sudden and the required run rate started climbing up. The CSK were 108 for four all of a sudden and the required run rate started climbing up.

The CSK fans were biting their nails as the match went on till the last over. When CSK required 2 runs from the last 3 balls, Dhoni finished it off in style with a famous six, much to the delight of the CSK and Dhoni fanbase. With this rousing victory, the Men in Yellow roared as their king is back. Dhoni's mind-blowing finish had presented a good treat for his fans, who yearned to celebrate him as a batsman. With the six, the CSK won by 6 wickets and have successfully entered the playoffs, becoming the first team in this current season to enter the club of titans.

For CSK fans, it was Dhoni's classy finish that made them relish and celebrate than the victory. CSK has recorded four consecutive wins and decorate first place in the points table with nine victories off eleven matches. In 2020, CSK was the first team to leave the season and within a year, Dhoni & Co had fixed the glitches and flaws and now is back in style by becoming the first team to enter the playoffs of this season in power. While speaking at the presentation ceremony, Dhoni said, "It means a lot, because the last time, we said we wanted to come back strong. We are known for that and there was a lot at stake."

"You won't always win games and a lot didn't go our way last time, and it's important not to make excuses and we have done that this year. The boys did well to keep the momentum going, and they have taken responsibilities to keep all departments of the game in balance so the players and the support staff get the credit. The bounce of the wicket was different - instead of knee height, it was shin height, and once the batsman figured out that they have to hit straight, they succeeded. The bowlers tried to swing it up front and got hit straight when they pitched it up too much, but then adjusted very well", Dhoni added.

He further said, "I told the bowlers that they needed to exploit the conditions in today's game. If the odd ball stopped early on, it started coming onto the bat later. Not much needs to be said of the fans, who have supported us through thick and thin and I am glad we have repaid their faith." CSK has three more matches, before entering the playoffs, with Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings. Dhoni's fleet will be taking on Royals on Saturday and CSK's immediate rival in this season- Delhi Capitals is also inching closer towards the playoffs. For CSK, the game has just started and fans believe that the team can reach the shores of victory through Dhoni's captaincy.
