'We have inaugurated it already': Mamata Banerjee gives huge shock to PM Modi on a hospital inauguration!

For Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the takeaway from the hospital inaugural event today -January 7, in Kolkata was probably a huge shock, given by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with the claim that the West Bengal government had already opened what he inaugurated today. In what has become a political score for Modi's staunch rival, Mamata has thrown more light that the Modi's regime in the centre aims to claim credit for the projects established by the state governments and this notion has been one of the accusations against the BJP kept by the opposition.

On Friday, Prime Minister Modi has attended the virtual event to inaugurate the second campus of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute in Kolkata. The unveiling from Modi was making national headlines and while addressing the event, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had seemingly ruined the spotlight the Centre was expecting to gain over the inauguration. Banerjee has officially declared that the project that the Prime Minister was supposed to inaugurate was actually inaugurated by the state government long ago.

Mamata Banerjee said, "I have come to the programme because of the Prime Minister. Because Pradhan Mantri Ji is virtually inaugurating this project. But let me inform the Prime Minister that we have inaugurated it long ago as this cancer institute is associated with the state government as well. The PM will be happy to know that the state is funding 25% of the project. We also gave the land for the campus of the cancer hospital." She went on to thank the Prime Minister for inaugurating the campus and dedicating it to the people of India.

On the front of how the state government had inaugurated the project in first hand, Mamata Banerjee said, "When Covid had started, we needed a Covid centre and I went there one day. The Rajarhat second campus of Chittaranjan Hospital. I saw it was linked to the state government and we inaugurated it." According to reports, the state government has given 11 acres of land to build the campus. During her speech, Mamata Banerjee has also appealed to the Prime Minister to increase medical seats in the state.

She also had alleged to the Prime Minister that the Governor of West Bengal often interferes in the state government's decisions, despite following the centre's directions. On the front of Covid vaccination, Mamata Banerjee said that the vaccination in the state was on track and she sought more vaccine doses from the Centre. "We have ensured through our works that our country won't get a bad reputation. We have started various schemes like Swasthya Sathi and have started dialysis centres. People are also getting 40% concession on medicines", she added.
