'We shall work together': PM Modi congratulates TN Chief Minister-elect MK Stalin!

As DMK President MK Stalin is all set to become the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after securing a landslide victory in the heavily fought race, the wishes have been pouring in for him from several national leaders across the country. Stalin will be swearing-in as the Chief Minister for the first time after winning the first state election since the demise of his father DMK patriarch Karunanidhi.

When the results were unfolded in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, they had given a solid edge for DMK post which national leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Sharad Pawar, Sukhbir Singh Badal, and Supriya Shule had wished and congratulated MK Stalin for marking a well-deserved victory. Following them, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also wished MK Stalin and called to work together for enhancing national progress, fulfilling regional aspirations, and defeating the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister said, "Congratulations to Thiru @mkstalin and @arivalayam for the victory in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. We shall work together for enhancing national progress, fulfilling regional aspirations, and defeating the COVID-19 pandemic." He also thanked the people of Tamil Nadu who supported the NDA.

"I would like to thank the people of Tamil Nadu who supported NDA. I assure the people of Tamil Nadu that we will keep working towards the state’s welfare and to further popularise the glorious Tamil culture. I applaud our Karyakartas for their hard work", the Prime Minister added. In line with the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister had also wished and congratulated Stalin for his victory in Tamil Nadu.

The Home Minister has texted his wish in English and Tamil. Taking to Twitter, Amit Shah said, "In the last 5 years, NDA has served the people of Tamil Nadu with utmost devotion. We humbly accept the mandate and assure our sisters & brothers that NDA under the leadership of PM @narendramodi Ji will continue to work relentlessly for the development and prosperity of Tamil Nadu."

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took to Twitter and wrote, "Good wishes and congratulations @mkstalin on your success in the Assembly election in Tamil Nadu. Wishing you and @arivalayam a good tenure in the service of the people. திரு. @mkstalin அவர்களுக்கும் திராவிட முன்னேற்றக் கழகத்திற்கும் மனமார்ந்த வாழ்த்துக்கள்."

Congress leader and former party's president Rahul Gandhi said, "Congratulations to Shri MK Stalin for the victory. People of Tamil Nadu have voted for change and we will, under your leadership, prove to be a confident step in that direction. Best wishes." While the national leaders have been wishing MK Stalin on social media, several state-level bureaucrats and authorities had thronged at his residence in Chennai to exchange their wishes to the Chief Minister-elect.

While the DMK alliance has been leading in 158 seats, the ADMK alliance has faced a debacle with 76 seats with several senior ministers facing a huge setback. Responding to the Prime Minister, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister-elect MK Stalin said, "Thank you Hon'ble Prime Minister @narendramodi for your kind wishes. I look forward to working with the Union Government to fulfill the aspirations of the State. Through federal cooperation, I am sure we will overcome COVID-19 and chart the post-pandemic growth story."
