What has helped the team to win? Virat Kohli reveals as RCB tops the table after magnificent victory against SRH!

The Sunrisers Hyderabad couldn't win their first game against the Kolkata Knight Riders and they were in readiness to seize this one against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB, on the other side, won their first match against the Mumbai Indians in a thriller and were ready to win their 2nd one in the season. With Devdutt Padikkal's return to the squad, RCB looked a bit stronger as a team than the SRH on paper. But this is IPL in which you cannot predict anything with any logic from the past.

The match was hosted by Chepauk Stadium, Chennai at the backdrop of rainfall, which further raised strong predictions, and the match was keenly watched from the toss to the end. Sunrisers won the toss and let Royal Challengers Bangalore bat first with the challenge of overcoming dews and keeping its dominance over SRH. RCB's skipper Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal opened the innings.

Captain Kohli gave a fantastic opening for his team scoring 33 runs. Much-expected Padikkal had disappointed the team and the fans after getting bowled out for 11 runs off 13 balls and Ahmed followed Padikkal and went back to the pavilion by scoring 14 runs. The pressure was levied on the RCB's middle-order batting unit with dangerous Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers taking the charge to put a big score on the board.

Glenn Maxwell took up the challenging responsibility of taking his team to a respectable total. Still, his innings was energetic and quick as usual. He scored a wonderful 59 off 41 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes. It was a very good bowling attack from the Sunrisers as they didn't allow any other RCB batsman to gain momentum at any point, including de Villiers. The South African attacker fell to the spin of Rashid Khan and he got dismissed for 1 run off 5 balls. The SRH's bowling unit has to be credited for delivering an outstanding show containing the RCB within 150.

Jason Holder picked up 3 wickets while Rashid Khan picked up 2 wickets at a good economy rate. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shahbaz Nadeem, and T Natarajan had got one wicket each. The RCB scored 149 runs and the target for the SRH was 150. Wriddhiman Saha and David Warner opened the chase and Saha went back to the pavilion early by scoring 1 run off 9 balls. Skipper David Warner and Manish Pandey made a wonderful partnership scoring 83 runs together.

Warner completed his half-century while Pandey got out for 38. After this partnership, none of the SRH batsmen could stay on the crease for a long time as they were walking back to the pavilion in quick succession. Shahbaz Ahmed is a wonderful find for the RCB as he took 3 wickets in a single over which was the turning point of the game. In the end, Rashid Khan fought hard but he couldn't take his team through the line. The Royal Challengers Bangalore won the thriller by 6 runs, successfully defending a low total and registering their second consecutive victory in this series.

The brilliant performance and victory of RCB have taken the team to first place in the IPL points table, leaving the fans to rejoice. For his wonderful batting display, Glenn Maxwell was named the Player of the Match. Virat Kohli, who is elated over the team's potential opening, said that the team had the extra bowlers, and those extra options had helped the team and made an impact in the middle overs. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Kohli said, "It was a top game for us, the wicket is going to get challenging, we saw that yesterday. You are never really out of the game in these conditions. We have more bowling options and those extra bowling options made those impact performances in the middle overs".

He stated, "I told the guys don't think that we struggled to get to 149. I believed we could win with 150. If it was tough for us, it will be tough for them as well. Chasing under pressure and you lose wickets, the game can swing anywhere. The wicket was never better and our execution under pressure was spot on. It was getting tougher and tougher with the old ball". After conceding the second defeat in the series, SRH's David Warner said that his side needs to have a big partnership in the middle overs if they want to get over the line.

Warner said, "It was just about building a partnership and I was quite disappointed with how we went - cross-batted shots against left-arm orthodox. It just hurts. We have another three games here, the wickets are going to get better here. We need to try to take powerplay wickets and need to have one big partnership in the middle". "A very bitter pill to swallow. Obviously Maxi (Maxwell) batted well, but our bowlers did well to restrict them. The last four games here the team batting second should've won the game. Last night's (Tuesday) game was an example and we played an identical game", Warner added.
