Yemen Airport was Attacked; Atleast 20 were Killed!

Yemeni health minister’s office said, At least 20 civilians and wounded dozens more were killed on Wednesday in an attack on an airport in Aden, Yemen, just as a plane carrying members of the country’s newly formed government cabinet was docking.

People gathered on the tarmac to greet the ministers fled. Soon after, the sound of gunfire was heard.

After hours, a second explosion was heard around Aden’s Maasheq presidential palace, where the cabinet members including Yemen’s Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalik as well as the Saudi ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Said al-Jaber, had been taken to safety.

The ministers and top officials of the newly formed government in Yemen have been targeted after returning to their country from neighboring Saudi Arabia. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) reported that three members of staff were killed in Wednesday's attack, and three others were injured, including one seriously.

Dominik Stillhart, ICRC's director of operations, said: "The Yemeni people have endured a terrible amount of suffering over the last five years. A day like this adds even more grief both for the Red Cross family and for the Yemeni families who had loved ones killed or injured in this explosion." The Yemeni government has accused Houthi Militia of carrying out the attack and of backing Iran.
