You must know: How TN Police rescued an ADMK woman councillor and her son who were kidnapped by a gang?

An ADMK woman councillor and her son, who were kidnapped by a gang, have been rescued from Andhra Pradesh. The shocking event had happened on Tuesday and they were released and rescued on Wednesday. They were rescued based on the missing councillor's mobile location. 

44-year-old Roja Ramesh has been serving as an ADMK's ward councillor in Gummidipoondi panchayat in the Tiruvallur district. In the morning hours of Tuesday - January 24, Roja Ramesh and her son 22-year-old Jacob were kidnapped by a gang from her locality. They both were kidnapped and taken at gunpoint. 

Shocked to know that his wife and son were missing, Roja's husband 46-year-old Ramesh Kumar, who was also an ADMK functionary and was the former head of Pallavada village panchayat, approached the local police and filed a complaint. Based on his complaint, the police registered a case and former four special teams to locate the missing mother and son. 

During investigation, it came to light that the duo were kidnapped by a seven-member gang and when inspecting her house, senior police officials found that the CCTV cameras in their house were damaged and the hard disk and car went missing. The officials intensified the search and they checked the cell phone tower of the councillor during which they have found that it was switched off in Andhra Pradesh. 

With the revelation that the mother and son were kidnapped to Andhra Pradesh, the police prepared to go to the neighbouring state during which they got another development that the mobile phone of the missing councillor was switched on during Wednesday morning. With the help of mobile signals, the police located the missing mother and son in Rallakuppam, Andhra Pradesh. 

It has been reported that the councillor's son Jacob had called up his relatives and informed them about the kidnapping incident. Both of them were rescued after being left behind by the kidnappers. According to the police, Roja said that the kidnappers kept driving across several locations of Andhra Pradesh without taking them to any specific location until they were released and left behind by the gang. 

After being rescued, both the mother and the son reached home in their car. Responding about the case, Tiruvallur SP Pakerla Cephas Kalyan said, "We have registered a case. But there are a lot of contradictory statements being made. A detailed probe is on." As per the reports, the police are looking into the reasons why they were kidnapped and they are probing in an angle whether there is any business enmity behind the kidnapping as both Roja and her husband Ramesh Kumar are doing sand mining business.
