You must know: What's in MK Stalin's new initiative 'Namma School Foundation' and how much he donated?

With the view of augmenting the infrastructure of the state government-run schools, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has launched a new initiative 'Namma School Foundation' on Monday - December 20 and besides launching, he has also donated Rs 5 lakh towards the initiative. 

During the launch ceremony, MK Stalin has called out the Tamil people living across and beyond the states to contribute to the development of the schools. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said, "Education is wealth that cannot be grabbed by anyone." Appealing to the Tamil people to strengthen the schools, the Chief Minister said, "Every rupee given for the noble cause will be spent for the development of schools, teachers, and students."

"The funds will be judiciously used and in a transparent manner for the future of the children", MK Stalin added. He urged the Tamil people living across world to revive their links with their villages and schools through a virtual pavilion introduced by the state government. Speaking at the event, MK Stalin has reminisced the service of late DMK's General Secretary K Anbazhagan on the occasion of his birth centenary today. 

K Anbazhagan had served as the Education Minister and MK Stalin said that as Education Minister, Anbazhagan had made a contribution to the education infrastructure. The Chief Minister said, "Today we named the Commissionerate of School Education building at Nungambakkam after Anbazhagan and launched the Namma School Foundation of the school education department coinciding with the birth anniversary." 

As Namma School Foundation has been launched, the chairman of TVS company, Venu Srinivasan has been appointed as the chairperson of the foundation and Chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand has been made its ambassador. The Chief Minister has also facilitated veteran actor Sivakumar for adopting a government school in Sulur, along with his classmates. The objective of the foundation is to bring together communities, individuals, and corporates to make government schools aspirational for all socio-economic classes with the promise of quality education.
