The decades of wait have now come down to days as we are getting closer to relishing the release of Kollywood's dream project 'Ponniyin Selvan'. After sparkling and glorifying treats were served to fans with posters, BTS, and audio, the movie is finally packed to hit the theatres on September 30. Two weeks ahead of the release, the lyric video of the brand-new and heartwarming song 'Sol' was unveiled on Friday.

Ponniyin Selvan 1 is the first of two film adaptations of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan, an epic periodic drama. The lyric video of 'Sol' has garnered a great reception that was in a fashion of reminding us again why A R Rahman is celebrated as Isai Puyal. Rahman composed the music for this humongous project and it's obvious that his musical mind had taken us into an awe-striking experience.

What's so special about this 'Sol' song? It is already known that A R Rahman travelled to several nations to collect unique instrument sounds. Interestingly, Rahman composed the Sol song not using any major instruments but through the sounds of water, an anklet, and a chorus of women while singer Rakshita Suresh's voice made the song complete.  The ambient sounds created an instant effect which travelled the five senses and gave a vivid description to the audience.

The song as per the novel takes place when Kundhavai and Vaanathi were outing from their palace for a task. Vaanathi was Arunmozhi Varman 's love interest and his elder sister Kundavai's best friend. She was taken care of in the palace under Kundhavai, as she have no birth parents alive. In Manirathnam's film, Vaanathi was played by Shobita Dhulipala and Kundhavai was played by Trisha. Singer Rakshita Suresh gave the vocal for the song which was penned by Lyricist Krithika Nelson.

Ponniyin Selvan is bankrolled by Subaskaran's Lyca Productions and Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies. Directed by Mani Ratnam, 'Ponniyin Selvan' has been planned to be released in two parts, and the first part is gearing up to release, while the second part is expected to arrive in Summer 2023. The history of Cholas needed a whopping 500 crores budget to make it to the screens. Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Vikram Prabhu, and Prakash Raj among others are ready to grandly welcome us to the land of the Cholas in just two weeks.
