27 years of the Vigilante... The poster and unseen video of Kamal Haasan’s classic flick Indian go viral...

It has been 27 years since we witnessed Kamal Haasan as Senapathy, the freedom fighter turned vigilante, in Indian on screens. He will be back to enthral us soon with the much-awaited sequel, Indian 2, directed by S. Shankar. The makers of the film have shared a vintage poster of the film, featuring Kamal Haasan in his iconic look and took the fans to the classic memory lane, as the film debuted in theatres on 9th May 1996.

Lyca Productions on Wednesday took to Twitter wrote, "It’s been 27 Years since we witnessed #Senapathy  on screens  He’ll be back to enthral us soon…!  #Indian 🇮🇳 #27YearsOfPanIndiaBBIndian #27YearsOfIndian #27YearsOfSenapathy". To the additional surprise, the internet is currently circulating an unseen video of the film's Muhurat Puja.

The film is produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, with music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, and it will also be released in Telugu and Hindi languages. Indian 2 is an upcoming Tamil-language action thriller film, which stars an ensemble cast of Kamal Haasan, Kajal Aggarwal, Gulshan Grover, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, late actor Vivek, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha and others.

The film is a sequel to the 1996 film Indian, which was a blockbuster hit and won three National Film Awards. The film revolved around Senapathy, a former freedom fighter who becomes a vigilante and kills corrupt bureaucrats. The sequel will reportedly deal with the contemporary issues faced by the country and how Senapathy tackles them.

The shooting of the film began in January 2019 and took place in various locations such as Chennai, Rajahmundry and Bhopal. However, the film faced several hurdles such as an accident on the sets that killed three crew members, the COVID-19 pandemic, cost overruns and legal disputes.

The shooting was then resumed in August 2022 and is expected to be completed soon. The film is expected to showcase some high-octane action sequences and stunning visuals. The director S. Shankar also revealed that he has shot a silver bullet sequence with Kamal Haasan for the film.
