A.R. Rahman, the musical maestro who has won millions of hearts with his soulful melodies, has finally broken his silence on the rumours surrounding his upcoming projects. The Oscar-winning composer took to Twitter to respond to the speculations that he is on board to score music for Simbu’s ‘STR48’, directed by Desingh Periasamy under Kamal Haasan’s production. His reply, however, was cryptic and left his fans guessing.

He took to Twitter and responded, “???” to the news of him composing music for ‘STR48’. This tweet has gone viral on social media, with many wondering what he meant by the question marks. Some interpreted it as a sign of not being committed to the project, while others speculated that he was clueless or surprised by the news.

The film, which is yet to be officially announced, is said to be a romantic comedy with Simbu playing a dual role. It is also reported that Arvind Swami and Aditi Rao Hydari will be part of the cast. If the rumours are true, this will be the first time that Rahman will collaborate with Simbu and Desingh Periasamy.

On the work front, Rahman has a busy slate of films in various languages. He has ‘Ayalaan’, a sci-fi comedy starring Sivakarthikeyan which is expected to release next year. He also has ‘KH234’, a film that reunites him with Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam after 35 years since ‘Nayakan’.

He is also composing music for ‘Genie’, an AI chatbot assistant app that allows users to interact with him and create stories, poems, songs and more. His other projects include ‘Gandhi Talks’, a film based on Mahatma Gandhi’s life and philosophy, starring Divay Dhamija in the titular role.
