BJP MLA passes away due to cardiac arrest at the age of 70

BJP MLA KG Shankar, who was the legislator in Puducherry, has passed away on Sunday at the age of 70 due to cardiac arrest at his residence in Puducherry.

Shankar was nominated legislator of the union territory and he was appointed to the post four years ago by Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi along with Saminathan and Selvaganapathy. 

The deceased legislator was an industrialist and was also serving as the treasurer of the BJP Puducherry unit. Shankar had complained of chest pain on Sunday morning and he had breathed his last at his residence at the age of 70. 

After the news of his demise headlined, several leaders have been paying tribute to the deceased legislator and expressing their condolences to his family. Shankar was surviving by his wife and two children. 

According to reports, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, Assembly Speaker VP Sivakolunthu, and BJP state president Saminathan MLA had rushed to his house and expressed condolences to the family of the departed leader.  Kiran Bedi placed a wreath on his body and conveyed her condolences to his family members. 

In her condolence message that she posted on Twitter, Kiran Bedi said, "I express my heartfelt condolences to the sudden and untimely demise of Shri KG Shankar, MLA and Treasurer of BJP, Puducherry. He was a modest personality and a disciplined soldier of the party. By his affable nature, principled stand, and down to earth personality, he was able to reach out to the grass-root workers of the party and the people of Puducherry at large. I also express my condolences to the bereaved workers of his family and to give them the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss. May the soul of the departed personality rest in peace".
