As the voices to win a statehood grow in the territory, ADMK secretary Anbalagan had called for a one-day bandh and he planned to organize the strike on Wednesday - December 28. 

Amid the growing tensions, she had recently travelled to Delhi and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
