The Madras High Court on Wednesday crushed hopes for EPS and reliant on OPS to put an end to the general secretary rivalry between Edapadi K. Palaniswamy and Paneer Selvam. The dual leadership model was eliminated at the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general council meeting last month, and EPS was named the interim general secretary. These decisions were later reversed by Judge G Jayachandran when the council kicked O Panneerselvam out for being "anti-party" and fighting with Palaniswami over leadership.

Senior counsels Guru Krishnakumar, PH Arvindh Pandian and AK Sriram representing OPS, where former Advocate General (AG) Vijay Narayan, SR Rajagopal and Narmadha Sampath appeared for EPS. Putting the troublesome outraging event occurred on July 11 General Council meeting, Guru Krishnakumar said,  “An attempt is made to make a small body (GC) to project the will of the entire party,” Additionally, Arvindh Pandian argued that the presidium chairman could only preside over the GC meeting, not call it. Rule 19 or 20 of the bylaws do not allow anyone other than the general secretary, coordinator, or joint coordinator to call a meeting. He also took issue with the amendment made regarding the general secretary position, which stipulates that a contestant's nomination must be made and seconded by ten district secretaries each, or 50% of the party in the State. Only members, he said, may either put forth or support a fellow member's candidacy for the position of general secretary.

The Madras High Court ordered on Wednesday that the predicament remain the same as it was on June 23 after hearing from the attorneys. The coordinator and joint coordinator may call a new general council meeting in the presence of a commissioner to oversee the event's conduct, according to Judge Jayachandran's jury verdict, which was issued today at 11.30 a.m, followed by petitions submitted by OPS. The Edappadi side has been dealt a severe blow by this decision, whereas the O. Panneerselvam party is commemorating by lighting fireworks and giving out treats, and as per sources, both heads held lengthy consultations with their supporters.
