'Centuries of wait is over'- PM Modi after laying the foundation stone for Ram temple in Ayodhya!

After laying the foundation stone for the construction of Lord Ram Temple in Ayodhya on August 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the wait of centuries has come to an end and Lord Ram gets a grand temple in Ayodhya. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the podium after performing the 'Bhoomi Poojan' for Ram temple in the presence of 175 people including important dignitaries, religious leaders, priests, and seers. In his address, the Prime Minister said that India is creating a golden chapter in Ayodhya. He began his speech with 'Jai Siya Ram' and he went on to say that a grand temple will be built for 'Ram Lalla' who had been living in a temporary tent for many years. 

 

By vowing that Ram is everywhere and Ram belongs to all, Modi said that Ram temple will stand as an inspiration for all of humanity and the temple denotes the rich heritage of India. He said, "Many people have made sacrifices for the Ram temple. I pay my respects to all of them. Social harmony was the core principle of Lord Ram's governance". 

He highlighted that the construction of the Ram temple is an instrument to unite the country and the temple will also lift the economy of the entire region. He further stated, "We have to join stones for construction of Ram temple with mutual love and brotherhood". The Prime Minister has cited Ram's message, 'The more powerful India gets, the more it will be loved and remain peaceful'.

 

By asserting that everyone's sentiments have to be taken care of, Modi further added that Lord Ram lives in our hearts, despite efforts were made to eliminate the existence of Lord Ram. Ahead of his address, the Prime Minister joined Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, and the Chief of Ram temple trust and laid the foundation stone for the temple, in the then disputed land which many Hindus believe as the birthplace of Lord Ram. 

Before beginning his address, he prostrated before the gathering. He laid the foundation stone at around 12.45 pm on Wednesday amid the intense chant of the slogans by the priests and slogans of celebrating the event from the gathering, which culminated higher and the slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' had gone high when the ritual concluded after the Prime Minister laid the foundation. Prior to arriving at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the 10th century Hanumangarhi temple as per the tradition. 

The Prime Minister was received by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and tight security was deployed in the town, which went to the Ramayana era as the district administration has decorated the walls and roads to make the ceremony as a historical and grandeur one.  In the sidelines of the ceremony, the Prime Minister unveiled a plaque and released a commemorative postal stamp and also planted a plant sapling in the complex. 

 

While the presence of the Prime Minister at the religious event has drawn a mixed reaction, various political leaders had welcomed the groundbreaking ceremony and expressed their hope that it would lead to national harmony and unity. As Modi laid down the first brick of the temple, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said 'May we continue to receive the blessings of Lord Ram. May his blessings help the country get rid of poverty, and starvation in India".

Leaders like Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Akhilesh Yadav, Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Congress's Randeep Singh Surjevala. However, AIMIM Cheif Asaduddin Owaisi said 'India is a secular country. Prime Minister has violated the oath of the office by laying the foundation stone of Ram Mandir. This is the day of the defeat of democracy and secularism and success of Hindutva'. 

 

According to ANI, he further stated that 'The Prime Minister today said he was emotional. I want to say that I am also equally emotional because I believe in coexistence and equality of citizenship. Mr. Prime Minister, I am emotional because a mosque stood there for 450 years".
