Corruptions are high on the highways of TN - Will Modi hit back hard?

The state of Tamil Nadu accounts for totality of about 5,324 kilometers of National Highways and out of these massive stretch, the state department of Highways under the government of Tamil Nadu maintains 2,039 kilometers of road with its jurisdiction while the rest 3,285 kilometers have been operated and maintained by the National Highways Authority of India, which falls under the Union Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India.

The state government would ground the corridors of maintaining the roads of its limit from the fund that will be released by the Union ministry where the state highways department will construct, concrete and renovate the road transport systems through the Central government fund. The Union government led by Prime minister Modi has been reserving Rs 3000 crore each year for the Edappadi Palaniswami led state government. The sources had revealed that the state highways department which falls under the direct control of the Chief minister had accused with corrupting the fund allocated by Central government's ministry.

The sources from the Highways department had cited that Union Road transport minister Nithin Gadkari had released about Rs 10,000 crores for the past three financial years that would indicate the expenses incurred by the state government for enhancing the corridors of road transports in the state. They further said that the state government led by Edappadi Palaniswami had reportedly embezzled about 20% of the total funds allocated which literally had pictured that the government authorities had corrupted nearly 2000 crores. In the wake of the corruption that had reached the attention of the Prime minister, he had directed Nithin Gadkari not to allocate any more funds for the highways department.

While analyzing the in depth of the corruption, the authorities of the National Highways had stated that the state government had repeatedly disclosed the information on the roads that are to be least concentrated, for acquiring the funds. It has been reported that Tamil Nadu highways department had failed to indicate the immediate and further concrete plans towards upgrading the transport systems but rather, it had asked for the funds for constructing the roads that are of no importance currently. They further cited that the government had tabled the need to cement the road which doesn't have regular moves of vehicles which ain't cause huge traffic. Despite of being known that, the state government had finalized the road constructions by elevating the actual rate and attained the funds from the Union Ministry of Road Transport.

The authorities blamed that the Edappadi government has been converting and inciting the officials of good will to seek bribes and commit corruption following which the department had allegedly misused the funds of Central government where through the help of the authorities, they had looted Rs 2000 crores and further tabling the proposals to convert the state highways into national highways in order to carpet more corruption. While questioned about how it has been identified, the authorities had revealed that Prime minister Modi had called on the authorities to discuss about the depressing trend of Indian economy last month and that's when it was reported that the National Highways Authority of India recorded about Rs 1.8 lakh crore debt after which the Prime minister had ordered for independent investigations on each and every highway project across the country. Our Delhi sources had said that the Prime minister's office had written to Nithin Gadkari not to consent any upcoming projects and directed to halt all the projects and the scam committed by Edappadi's government had certainly cracked down the relations between the Prime minister's office and the office of Nithin Gadkari.

These episodes of corruptions and commissions had oiled by the Edappadi Palaniswami's government by citing the re(e)al need of constructing and expanding the roadways that doesn't really have to be constructed.
