Delhi riots: L-G visits the violence-hit regions, here are the latest updates!

In the middle of the communal violence and escalating tensions that disseminated between pro and anti CAA forces, Lieutenant Governor (L-G) of Delhi has on Friday visited the violence-hit regions in the Northeastern part of the capital for the first time amid the rising numbers in the death toll.

The reports say that L-G Anil Baijal has toured the affected areas to overview the situation. Baijal met with the local residents and called for peace and harmony. His visit has come at a high time when the death toll has been soaring high. As on Friday noon, the death toll has increased to 42 while more than 200 hundred were injured aftermath of the unprecedented violence that spurred up between the pro and anti CAA forces.

However, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs said that there was no major incident and violence reported from Northeast Delhi in the last 36 hours. The statement from the Union Ministry has come after Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting in the nation's capital to review and monitor the situation. After touring the riots-hit regions, LG Anil Baijal said that he has come to the regions to see how things are going around. Amid the unrest, the Home Ministry had made sudden transitions of powers in the Delhi police department after it named Shrivastava as the new Delhi police commissioner on Friday to replace incumbent Amulya Patnaik.

The reports reveal that Delhi has been showing the signals on Friday that it's coming back to normalcy and the Home Ministry has withdrawn the prohibitory orders that were put in place. The police and the paramilitary forces which have been deployed in the capital maintained the strict watch and remained more vigilant on Friday with the view of the prayers at the mosques. The shops and other establishments, that remained shut, have shuttered up and opened in some of the places and most of the vehicles were seen on the roads of the violence-hit areas.

As on Friday, the Delhi police had arrested more than 500 rioters for interrogations and the reports have stated that more arrests would be made based on the probe. According to ANI, the Delhi police officers have met with Muslim people at different mosques in Kardam Puri and Kabir Nagar as part of the confidence-building measure and some of the local mosques have appealed for peace and harmony and asked the people not to ear the rumors and solicited the people to co-operate with the police.

By appealing for peace and calm, the Delhi police had called the people to come forward to share the violent incidents. The residents can send the videos and pictures of the violence through WhatsApp and the police had shared the numbers -8750871221 and 8750871227. Although the normalcy is returning in some of the areas, the tensions still prevail over the soaring high in the death toll. The deceased include one head constable of Delhi police, an intelligence officer, journalists and civilians. The Delhi police had installed two special investigation teams to probe the violence.
