The Opposition party of Tamil Nadu DMK has, on Tuesday, echoed its stand of urging the ruling ADMK government to adopt the anti-CAA resolution in the upcoming assembly session with the view of annulling the implementation of Center's controversial citizenship act.
The reports say that DMK legislators Sekar Babu and M Subramanian had tabled the letter written by DMK President and Opposition party leader Stalin to the Assembly Speaker pressing him to adopt the resolution. The next assembly session is scheduled to commence on February 14th, 2020 during which the state government would present the Budget for 2020-21.
DMK party has been one of the strongest critics of the CAA and the demand for passing such resolution has come at the high time when most of the opposition ruling Indian states have either passed the anti-CAA resolution or vying to pass the resolution.
The Communist Party ruled Kerala is the first Indian state to pass anti-CAA resolution after which the states like Rajasthan, West Bengal, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh had adopted the anti-CAA resolution.
