As a Diwali treat for the fans, Sardaar directed by PS Mithran and starring Karthi as the lead is getting to cherish the film enthusiasts and theatregoers. On special note, Karthi is portraying multi-characters as seen in the trailer, by playing a double role. The film's trailer was released on night hours of Friday in a lavish event that was held in Chennai.

Karthi spoke about the origins of how this film project came, while addressing the audience at the trailer launch event. He said, "Through Laxman, I got to know Mithran after his hit movie Irumbu Thirai. He quoted a single line from this movie that said, 'In the 1980s, the military established an intelligence unit.' They trained the actor to be a spy, turned him into a military man, and sent him to Pakistan. Hearing that piqued my interest greatly. I asked him to write this tale in its entirety. After writing it, he declared, the character evolved into a dual personality. another double role? I refused."

"This story requires a double role," the actor continued. "The story automatically sparked a variety of opinions about the spy. For my career, this movie is crucial. I liked how our Indian spy, who lives on our soil, thinks and decides to become a spy. And it took a lot of creative thinking to figure out how to make it real without being deceptive", he added.

He further said, "For the first time, acting older took a lot of effort. I had to learn how to adapt physically as I reached the ages of 40, 50, and 60. Will there be swimsuits and six packs like in a James Bond movie because it's a spy film? Never ask that. It will be a spy thriller set in India. I pray to God that this film will be a success." Sardar, the spy played by Karthi and Vijay Prakash, the attention-seeking cop, promise to deliver a double treat as distinctive action sequences

The two minute trailer centered on a mission that was targeted in the Rajaji Bhavan. Raashi Khanna plays the opposite to the actor, where Chunky Panday, Laila, and Rajisha Vijayan all have crucial significant roles. Sardar, a movie directed by P.S. Mithran, has been slated for a theatrical release On October 21 on the occasion of Diwali. At the box office, it will stay competitive with Prince by Sivakarthikeyan. Sardar, which is produced by Annapurna Studios and Prince Pictures, is also scheduled for release in Telugu. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music for Sardar while George C Williams has handled cinematography.
