Edappadi Palaniswami's co-brother joins DMK: Here's the bad story!

The politics in the state of Tamil Nadu has the usual grounds for the heated arguments, repeated exchange of the accusations, dynasty politics, and upholding the electoral politics over the people's policies and along with these, the most important one is the family politics in which the members of the families would be in the rival political parties.

While having such families with the members of different parties won't amount for heated debates, the recent such incident had erupted the shockwaves in the state's ruling ADMK party as the co-brother of the Chief Minister and Joint Coordinator of the party Edappadi Palaniswami had merged in the state's opposition party DMK, which is the main rival of the ruling party.

Edappadi's cousin Viswanathan, who seems to be a lookalike for the Chief Minister, was the one who joined the DMK party on Dec 5th, 2019. He met the party's president M K Stalin, against whom Edappadi directs his politics, in the party's headquarters and officially proclaimed that he had joined the DMK. Along with him, Viswanathan's two sons Karthik and Yuvaraj had joined the DMK after the trio was webbed by the DMK district secretary of Salem and the former MP.

We reached to Viswanathan to know the reason behind the sudden drift that had diverted the ship, he cited that he lives in Siluvampalayam near to the residence of the Chief Minister in Salem district and he is the cousin of Edappadi Palaniswami and stated that his relative Muthusamy had involved him in the party during the merger of the both ADMK camps headed by Jayalalithaa and Janaki Ramachandran respectively.

He said that he contested Nedunkulam Panchayat elections independently in 1986 during which he defeated Edappadi Palaniswami in that elections. He asserted that his family earned respect from the village after he won the Panchayat chairman election in 2011 and claimed that his family had stood by the people and extended their help for the village people during which the elder brother of Edappadi Palaniswami, Govindharaj had started to demean their family and he has been treating the family with ignominy.

He accused Govindharaj of troubling and opposing his family while constructing the house on the land which has a mutual interest for both the families. Viswanathan stated that he met with the Chief Minister for about six to seven times in Chennai about the atrocities of his own brother and despite the meeting, the Chief Minister stayed off from earring his concerns following which Govindharaj allegedly sold about 41 cents of land to Gnanasundaram without acquiring the consent. He claimed that he went to the court and got a stay order on the land that had incited Govindharaj to tease his family.

While we questioned him about any other reasons for joining the DMK apart from enmity on the property, he accused the Chief Minister of his policies against the farmers. He stated that while claiming that he is the son of a farmer, Edappadi has been failing to rescue the farmers from their despair. He added that former Chief Minister Karunanidhi had provided electricity at the free of cost for the farmers while Edappadi government seeks a deposit of Rs 3 lakh and stated that farmers who yielded sugarcane have never given with the minimum price and while these issues are on the rise, he claimed that DMK president M K Stalin stays close to the people and that had attracted him to join the DMK party.
