Explained: Why Udhayanidhi Stalin and Suriya-Jyothika would be honoured with the Global Community Oscars?

For Tamil stars Suriya-Jyothika and Udhayanidhi Stalin, it's time to become more resplendent as they are all set to sparkle on a global stage as they will be conferred with the Global Community Oscars Awards to honour their services and contributions to society. It is the first time that the trio will be receiving this top honour, which will be presented in a grand ceremony, hosted by the United States. The award ceremony will be held on February 19, 2022, in the US state of Illinois. 

United States Congressman from Illinois, Danny K Davis has announced that the MEATF Congressional Medal of Excellence for 2021 will be awarded to Suriya and Jyothika, the producers of Jai Bhim, while Udhayanidhi Stalin would be bestowed with an award under the category of International Rising Star of the Year. The press release from the Office of Danny K Davis has said that Jai Bhim was based on a true story on social justice and covered police brutality. 

The release further said that the MEATF (Multi-Ethnic Advisory Task Force) and AMEC (American Multi-Ethnic Coalition) 11th Annual Congressional Global Community Oscars Awards honours international community heroes who have made a major impact in empowering the ethnic communities. The ceremony would be hosted annually by Congressman Davis and the entire team of Jai Bhim including retired judge Justice K Chandru, producers Suriya and Jyothika, and Director TJ Gnanavel are being invited to receive the award.

The award ceremony will be held on February 19, 2022, at Yellow Box, Naperville, Illinois. On the other hand, actor-turned-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is a DMK MLA, will be honoured with the award of 'The International Rising Star of the Year 2021'. This top award aims to recognize the outstanding work done by an emerging leader across the globe. The press release from the Office of Davis has said that the Congressman has extended a personal invitation to Udhayanidhi Stalin to receive the award in the United States. 

The press release further said, "The MEATF seeks to empower the multi-ethnic communities through social, educational, cultural, political, health, economic, and youth initiatives. The American Multi-Ethnic Coalition is a bipartisan grass-root level organization that strives to promote and protect ethnic communities by maximizing every resource that we have for the good of our communities." 

Congress Danny K Davis said, "I want to congratulate all of the award recipients because being selected by the Awards Jury to receive one of these awards is an indication that you have done outstanding work and made significant accomplishments to advance the quality of life and individuals across the globe. We invite everyone to acknowledge these outstanding individuals." The ceremony expects the participation of over 1,000 guests and the preparations are underway in the host city.
