Finally, Kangana Ranaut's 'Thalaivi' is all set to release in the theatres: Here's the release date!

In what would become one of the first in line movies to get released in the theatres after the resumption of the latter, late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's biopic 'Thalaivi' is all set to hit the big screens as the movie is finally been slated to release after episodes of controversies and setbacks. Directed by AL Vijay, actor Kangana Ranaut will be playing the role of Jayalalithaa and Arvind Swami will also be playing the lead role. 

On Monday - August 23, it has been officially announced that the movie will be released in theatres on September 10. Making the announcement, Zee Studios took to Twitter and wrote, "With a personality queen size, Jayalalithaa's story has always belonged to the BIG SCREENS! Embark on her inspiring journey from being a cine star to becoming one of the most influential CMs IN THEATRES near you on 10th September. #ThalaiviiOnTheBigScreen #ThalaiviiInTheatres". 

The movie will be released in three languages Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi and it was earlier scheduled to release in the month of April. However, it was then deferred in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thalaivi is written by KV Vijendra Prasad, who wrote 'Baahubali'. While Kangana Ranaut plays the character of Jayalalithaa, Arvind Swami will be playing the role of late Chief Minister and ADMK's founder MG Ramachandran.

The movie is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Shailesh Singh, and Brinda Prasad and it also stars Prakash Raj, Nassar, Samuthirakani, Thambi Ramaiah, Poorna, Madhoo, Jisshu Sengupta, and Bhagyashree in the lead roles. GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music while cinematography and editing are done by Vishal Vittal and Anthony respectively. The movie's trailer was released on March 23 this year during Kangana Ranaut's 34th birthday and it also had fought a legal battle with Jayalalithaa's niece J Deepa, who demanded to ban the movie.
