Senior ADMK leader and former Tamil Nadu Minister, D Jayakumar has watched the movie in the theatres and after watching it, he has demanded that certain scenes must be deleted.

On August 23, when the theatres in Tamil Nadu had reopened, the movie team has officially announced that the movie will be released in the theatres on September 10.

While Kangana Ranaut plays the character of Jayalalithaa, Arvind Swami will be playing the role of late Chief Minister and ADMK's founder MG Ramachandran.

Thalaivi is a multilingual biographical film about the life of J Jayalalithaa, who was the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and one of the iron ladies in independent India.
