In his brother's way...Actor Karthi does what Suriya did to his fans to help them during lockdown!

Apart from sharing the big screens as prominent actors of Kollywood, brothers Suriya and Karthi are also been sharing their support and contribution to the needy and marginalized people. Amid their works towards helping students in availing education and voicing against the reforms irking the agricultural sector, the brothers have now come forward to helping their fans during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The pandemic and the lockdown triggered by the virus outbreak have been adversely impacting the livelihoods of many people as they have been bracing up financial distress. With the view of addressing the pain and distress endured by some of the fans of both the actors, Suriya and Karthi had donated money directly to the bank accounts of the fans.

According to reports, Suriya and Karthi have donated Rs 5,000 each to 250 and 150 members of their fan communities respectively. The actors had asked the administrators of their fan clubs to find the most suffering members of the clubs during the lockdown. After knowing the most suffering fans, they had decided to donate Rs 5,000 to each of them.

The actors had transferred the amount to the accounts of the fans to take part and address the pains of the students. Earlier, Suriya and Karthi, along with their father Sivakumar, had made a contribution worth Rs 1 crore to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. They handed over the cheque of Rs 1 crore by meeting Chief Minister MK Stalin to aid the government's fight in beating the pandemic.

They had donated the money on May 12 and while addressing the reporters after donating, Sivakumar said, "People are fighting against fire. We have to save them from COVID-19 and we should all raise support for that. We are trying to do what we can and this is our small contribution. Everyone should stay healthy."

On the work front, Suriya was last seen in the blockbuster hit 'Soorarai Pottru' that was released in November 2020 on Amazon Prime. The actor has completed around 30% of the shoot for his upcoming movie with director Pandiaraj. Suriya is also playing the lead in Gautham Menon's portions in the anthology 'Navarasa', which is slated to be released on Netflix. Suriya is expected to start shooting for 'Vaadi Vasal' directed by Vetrimaaran by the end of this year or early next year. Karthi was last seen in 'Sulthan' and will be seen next in Mani Ratnam's much-anticipated 'Ponniyin Selvan'.
