"I am saddened" This Politician and Rajya Sabha MP objects Vijay for smoking stance in the Leo poster

Thalapathy Vijay is all set to rock the screens with his upcoming film ‘Leo’, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film, which is expected to hit the theatres in October this year, The fans of the actor are eagerly awaiting the first single from the film, titled ‘Naa Ready’, which is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and will be unveiled on June 22, coinciding with Vijay’s birthday.

However, the first single announcement was accompanied by a new poster of Vijay, which has landed him in hot water. The poster shows Vijay striking a pose with a cigarette in his hand and mouth. This has sparked a controversy as many have slammed the actor for glorifying smoking and setting a bad example for his young fans. Among them is politician and Rajya Sabha MP Anbumani Ramadoss, who has openly criticized Vijay for smoking a cigarette in the ‘Leo’ poster.

Anbumani Ramadoss took to his Twitter page and posted a message writing in Tamil, "I am saddened by the scene of actor Vijay smoking in the first announcement of Leo movie. Children and students watch the movies that actor Vijay acts in. They should not fall into the habit of smoking by watching him act in smoking scenes,"

"He has a social responsibility to protect the public from smoking addiction. The law also says the same. Therefore, actor Vijay should avoid acting in smoking scenes in movies as he promised in 2007 and 2012. #SmokingKills #SayNoToTobacco", he added.

Vijay plays a ruthless gangster role in the film, as Lokesh Kanagaraj's previous films' focused on gangster world premise with characters Rolex, Santhanam, in Vikram, Anbu, Adaikalam, Dilli in Kaithi. The film already hinting a connection with Kaithi and Vikram, but the officially not yet confirmed, as the makers keeping the surprise for the fans to witness on screens.
