“I enjoy villain roles, as I can’t kill anybody in real life," says Merry Christmas star Vijay Sethupathi

The festive season is just around the corner and a better way to celebrate is with the audio launch as the makers of Merry Christmas unveiled. The much-awaited thriller, starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, is all set to hit the screens on January 12, 2024. The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan, promises to be a gripping tale of crime, suspense, and romance.

On Thursday, the lead actors of the film came together to launch the music track of the film, composed by Pritam. The event was a grand affair, with the stars interacting with the media and fans, and sharing their excitement about the film.

The duo also revealed some interesting details about their characters and the film. Katrina Kaif plays the lead in the film, who gets entangled in a web of mystery and danger along with Vijay Sethupathi who plays a mysterious man.

Speaking to the press, the actor said that he enjoys playing such characters, as they allow him to explore different emotions and expressions. He said, “I enjoy villain roles. I enjoy it so much as I can’t kill anybody in real life. I get a chance to do it (in films), and I can express that wholeheartedly,

"Imagine you may have an ego so much but you can’t act or show it, and you have to act like, ‘I’m very humble.’ But onscreen you can express, you can play with emotions, it’s fun. Please don’t think bad about me. Expressions are like food and taste and I want to have all the taste,” he added.

Vijay Sethupathi also praised his co-star Katrina Kaif, saying that she is not only beautiful, but also a thinking and sensible actor. He said that he had a great time working with her, and that they share a good chemistry on screen. Katrina Kaif reciprocated the compliment, saying that Vijay Sethupathi is a brilliant actor, who brings a lot of depth and intensity to his role. She said that she learned a lot from him, and that he is very humble and supportive.

The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Kewal Garg, and Jaya Taurani, and distributed by Lyca Productions and Pen Studios. The film’s cinematography is done by Madhu Neelakandan, and the film has been edited by Pooja Ladha Surti, who is also the co-writer of the film along with Raghavan.
