India's state of the Union: President praises Center on CAA and Article 370!

Indian President Ram Nath Kovind has convened the Budgetary session 2020 by addressing both chambers of the Parliament on Friday during which he lauded the state of the Union and praised the Central government on abrogating the special status from Kashmir and implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Addressing from the Central Hall of the Parliament, President Kovind has appreciated the people of India on accepting the final verdict of Ayodhya Land case and he touched on the wide range of issues that the country had gone through last year. By backing the government on its implementations, he urged the citizens to forgo the agitations and protests that have been prevailing across the nation.

President Kovind said that the Indian constitution demands the Parliament and the MPs in the house to meet and fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the country and its people by prioritizing the national interest. He stated that "my government believes that the debates and the mutual discussions would strengthen the democracy further" and added that any sort of violence in the name of the protest weakens the society and the rest of the country.

President Kovind has addressed the government's decision of revoking Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, that was one of the decisions which boomeranged against the Center, and stated that the abrogation of the Special status from Kashmir is not only historic but it has also proved the way for equal development of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Kovind proclaimed that the Modi led Central government had built the Kartarpur Sahib corridor that was dedicated to the nation on the occasion of 550th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev.

He further asserted that around 8 crore people were provided with free gas connections, 2 crore people were given with free houses while 38 crore people were given with the bank accounts. In his speech, he also backed the Central government on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He stated that " I'm happy that the wish of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi has been fulfilled by enacting the CAA.  He claimed that the implementation of the CAA is historic and soon after he aired his statements about CAA, the opposition members who were present in the Central Hall had risen up against his statement and chanted slogans by displaying the anti CAA banners that had caused an uproar and ruckus.

By stating that his government is taking strong and vital steps for making this decade as India's decade, Kovind underlined that the Modi government has given full liberty to the security forces to curb and tackle the terrorism and added that the government has been working towards installing more than 1000 fast track courts to deal with the crimes against women.

Earlier, President Kovind was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and the Union Ministers who had accompanied him to the Central Hall to deliver the address one day ahead of presenting the Union Budget. The Union Budget for 2020-21 would be tabled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1st in the first phase of the Budget session which will end on February 11th and the second phase would begin on March 2nd and conclude on April 3rd, 2020. This is the second Union Budget presented by Nirmala Sitharaman.
