Finally, the makers of Dhanush's upcoming movie 'Naane Varuven' has put an end to the wait by revealing the release date. While it was anticipated that the movie will clash with Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan on September 30, it's now official that the same-day release has been avoided and that Naane Varuven will hit the screens ahead of Ponniyin Selvan.

As per the latest announcement, Naane Varuven has been slated for a theatrical release on September 29. While Dhanush plays the lead role in the movie, it is helmed by his elder brother Selvaraghavan. The brothers have collaborated for the first time in twelve years after Mayakkam Enna in 2011. They are also acting together in Naane Varuven for the first time.

As Naane Varuven and Ponniyin Selvan would release on different dates, the fans are relieved to get to enjoy the first day first shows for both the movies. Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Selvaraghavan wrote, "See u all on 29th." He released a new poster which showed Dhanush aiming an archery bow at a target. The release announcement has come days after the movie's teaser was released.

Dhanush plays two roles in the movie, one of which is said to be the antagonist. It is billed as a psychological thriller. Prabhu, Yogi Babu, Elli AvRam, Indhuja Ravichandran, and Shelly Kishore also play important roles. Naane Varuven is bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu under his banner V Creations and Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music.
