JNU violence: Wardens resigned and here's what JNUSU had to say!

Hours after the students and teachers of the reputed Jawaharlal Nehru University were reportedly attacked and assaulted by the group of the masked men, the wardens of the Sabarmati hostel in the premises that seen severe anarchies from the mob had tendered their resignations on Monday by citing that they failed to provide security to the students accommodating at the hostel.

The resignation has come after the varsity had unfolded the unrest as the unprecedented violence had left dozens with severe injuries while the properties have been damaged by the masked goons on Sunday night and the reports have quoted the statements of the sources close to the resigned wardens and said that the group of students has allegedly surrounded them after they came to the hostel and blamed the wardens for not rolling out adequate security measures for the students.

Moments later, the students had asked them to table their resignation papers with the view of holding them accountable for the violence in the hostel that injured many and devasted its corridors. The Sabarmati hostel is one among the varsity's accommodation facilities which, on Sunday night, stormed by the mob who carried the sticks, rods, and weapons and unleashed the brutal violence against the students and teachers.

After the arson has gone beyond the control, the university administration has called the police following which the police officials had booked a case against the unidentified men for instigating the violence and the reports have stated that the probe has now been transferred to the Crime Branch. The arson that lasted for hours had caused severe injuries to at least 30 people including students and the teachers and of those injured was Aishe Ghosh, the president of JNU Students Union.

The injured students were taken to AIIMS Delhi for the treatment and they have been discharged on Monday morning. Union HRD ministry has said that the violence in JNU is very unfortunate and highly condemnable and claimed that such acts of violence and anarchy will not be tolerated. The reports stated that the HRD ministry has asked a detailed report from the JNU registrar.

JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh has, moments ago, stated that 'Every iron rod used against the students will be given back by debate and discussion. JNU's culture will not be eroded anytime soon. JNU will uphold its democratic culture' and added that 'yesterday's attack was an organized attack by goons of RSS and ABVP. Since the past 4-5 days, violence was being promoted in the campus by some RSS affiliated professors and ABVP' and by condemning the violence, she urged the removal of the Vice-Chancellor. On Monday evening, the students and teachers form a human chain with the view of protesting against yesterday's violence.
