It has been reported that Subasree was on the way to her home in Chrompet from her office which is in Perungudi, one of the IT corridors in the city. The eyewitnesses say when she was riding her two wheeler in radial road, which connects the IT expressway to Chrompet around 1.30 pm after which one of the hundreds of banners that were erected illegally on the dividers of the road, had crashed on her vehicle following which she had lost her control and thrown on the middle of the road before being rammed by the truck which was driving behind her vehicle.

Soon after the tragic incident, the people surrounding the area had sent her to the hospital in another vehicle since the ambulances had failed to turned up to the spot, where she was declared dead one hour later. The reliable sources from the areas say that one of the marriage halls in radial road was hosting the wedding of former AIADMK Councilor's son for which the state Chief and Deputy Chief minister were invited. The Councilor Jayagopal had allegedly erected the banners illegally after having the confirmation that the state Deputy Chief minister O Pannerselvam will be attending the wedding. The sources cited that it was one of those illegal banners that had claimed Subasree's life.

While on one hand, the direct eyewitnesses and the social activists had seen staging out fierce voices against the government and on the other hand, the police department had been muted and failed to file a complaint against the former Councilor despite of heated accusations by the media and by the activists, in what it had justified that the state government is very keen in housing safe haven for the accused. The sources had claimed that the accused Jayagopal has been camping in the wedding hall till the last minute of the wedding and Deputy Chief minister Pannerselvam had attended the wedding before the blood Subasree had spilled on the road got dried.

After having been accounted for erecting illegal banners, one of the social activists in the state Traffic Ramaswamy had tabled his petition in Madras High court and after the High court bench had turned tough against the government, the local police department had filed a case where the high court had ordered the government to release exgratia of Rs 5 lakhs for Subasree's family that has to be debited from the payment of government authorities for consistently failing to implement court orders towards banning the banners. By justifying the move, the police department had said that it had detained the truck driver under the grounds of rash driving and causing death due to negligence and stayed dumb of just registering the complaint against Jayagopal.

While most of the opposition parties like DMK and Makkal Needhi Maiam had directly payed condolences to Subasree's parents, the ruling government had stayed with advising its party men not to erect the banners and hoardings that had eventually oiled the possible speculations that the government provides safe haven for the main accused.
