Thalapathy Vijay, the superstar of Tamil cinema, is all set to thrill his fans with his upcoming action film Leo. The film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who previously collaborated with Vijay for Master (2021), is one of the most anticipated films of 2023. The film has a stellar star cast that includes Trisha, Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Gautham Menon and many others.

The film’s shooting is progressing at a brisk pace and the team has recently wrapped up a major schedule in Kashmir. The next schedule will commence soon in Chennai and Hyderabad. The film is slated to hit the screens on October 19, 2023.

But before that, the fans of Thalapathy Vijay have a reason to rejoice as the makers have planned a special treat for them on the actor’s birthday, June 22. Producer Lalit Kumar, who is bankrolling the film under Seven Screen Studio, has revealed that there will be a big update from the Leo team on that day. He made this announcement at an award ceremony yesterday.

While he did not divulge any details about the update, it is speculated that it could be either a first-look poster or a teaser of the film. The fans are eagerly waiting for this surprise and are hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite star in his new avatar.

Leo is said to be based on an old script that Lokesh Kanagaraj wrote after his debut film Maanagaram  and reworked for this project. The film has music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa and editing by Philomin Raj. The film is being made on a whopping budget of ₹250–300 crore and Vijay is reportedly taking a revenue-sharing model as his remuneration.

Leo is expected to be a high-octane gangster drama that will showcase Vijay in a never-seen-before role. The film will also mark the Tamil debut of Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt, who plays the main antagonist. Trisha, who has acted with Vijay in several films before, will play his love interest. As per reports, the film's climax will be scheduled to shoot Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad.
