Lokesh Kanagaraj, the producer of the blockbuster film ‘Fight Club’, opened up about his experience and challenges in making his last venture in a candid interview with popular anchor and journalist Gobinath on YouTube. He also shared his insights and learnings from the feedback he received for his previous directorial film ‘Leo’, which starred Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role.

Leo featured an ensemble cast of newcomers and veterans, including Vijay, Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Priya Anand, and Sandy. The film has been praised for its gripping storyline, stunning visuals, and electrifying stunts.

Lokesh Kanagaraj revealed that he decided to produce ‘Fight Club’ after being impressed by the script and the vision of the director, who is his close friend. He said that he wanted to support new talent and fresh ideas in the industry. He also expressed his gratitude to the actors and technicians who worked hard to bring this project to life.

However, Kanagaraj also admitted that he faced a lot of pressure and stress while working for Leo. He said that he learned a valuable lesson from his previous film ‘Leo’, which had a mixed response from the critics and the audience. He said that he was confident and announced the release date of ‘Leo’ at the beginning of the project, which created a lot of expectations and deadlines that affected the quality and creativity of the film, especially in the second half, which was criticized for being lengthy and dragging.

He also said that he took the criticism constructively and tried to improve his craft. He said that he realized that he should not announce the release date of a film before completing it, as it would give him more freedom and flexibility to work on the film.

‘Leo’ was an action drama, which had a chartbuster soundtrack composed by Anirudh Ravichander.  The film was released on 19th October 2023 and collected 650+ crores worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of the year.
