That man, who attacked Vijay Sethupathi, has sought a criminal case against the actor: What's the friction?

A Chennai man, who attacked actor Vijay Sethupathi, has now sought a criminal case against the latter through filing litigation in a court. The development has come weeks after he attacked Vijay Sethupathi at Bengaluru airport by alleging that the actor has belittled him and his community. Though the incident didn't escalate further after the reports of consensus between the both, the man has now knocked on the doors of Saidapet Court and moved his petition against Vijay Sethupathi in which he sought to take criminal action against the actor.

According to reports, the man, named Maha Gandhi, is a resident of Saidapet, Chennai, had attacked Vijay Sethupathi and his manager at Bengaluru airport last month. The actor was approaching the exit of the airport during which the incident happened. In the visual, it was seen Vijay Sethupathi was being escorted out of the airport premises by his team and the airport's security personnel and when the actor was nearing the exit, a man runs from behind and tries to kick the actor. However, his attack plot was busted by the security officials even as Vijay Sethupathi was shocked to have someone attacking him from behind.

No case was filed over the incident and Maha Gandhi has claimed that he wanted to wish Vijay Sethupathi for receiving the national award. However, he alleged that the actor had responded with a remark that had degraded him and his community due to which he tried to attack him. On the other hand, Vijay Sethupathi's team had said that Gandhi was in an inebriated condition and addressed the actor calling his caste name. The actor had refused to talk with him due to which he attacked him and his manager.

However, in his interviews with the media, Maha Gandhi has claimed that Vijay Sethupathi had made derogatory comments against the prominent Thevar community and alleged that he was attacked by the actor's team. Now, weeks after the attack, Gandhi has filed a case in the Saidapet Court in which he sought criminal action against Vijay Sethupathi and his manager Johnson. In his petition, he said that he was travelling to Mysore for a medical checkup on November 2nd when he met Vijay Sethupathi at the Bengaluru airport.

Maha Gandhi had tagged himself as an actor and claimed that since he is also an actor, he tried to talk with Vijay Sethupathi at the airport to commend him for receiving the national award for the movie 'Super Deluxe'. Gandhi said in his petition that the actor was rude to him and also had defamed his caste. He went on to claim that Vijay Sethupathi's manager Johnson had attacked him outside the airport and hit him on the ear, which had led to cause problems in his hearing ability.

Gandhi further claimed that he had checked with the doctor and enclosed the doctor's report along with the petition that confirmed his hearing problems after getting beaten by the actor's manager. Gandhi has maintained that he neither attacked Vijay Sethupathi nor his team and demanded criminal action against the actor under strict provisions. He also had claimed that Johnson had threatened to kill him and the reports say that Gandhi's petition has been accepted by the court and is expected to come for a hearing soon.
