Merry Christmas: “Absolutely awestruck"... Here's the first review from this popular director!

The much-awaited romantic thriller ‘Merry Christmas’ starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif is all set to hit the screens on January 12, coinciding with the Pongal festival. The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan, is also dubbed in Tamil for the fans of Makkal Selvan, who plays a mysterious character opposite Katrina’s  role.

The film has already generated a lot of buzz among the critics and the audience, thanks to its intriguing trailer which released quite recently. The film is said to be a homage to the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, and promises to keep the viewers on the edge of their seats till the end.

One of the first celebrities to watch the film was filmmaker Vignesh Shivan, who took to social media to share his rave review. He wrote, “Absolutely awestruck by the outstanding performances from Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif in the superbly written, thrilling screenplay by the genius Sriram Raghavan , it takes us back to Alfred Hitchcock’s time. Pritam’s music is another major pillar. The last 30 minutes are just too good! Enjoy in theatres from January 12th! I am totally proud of you, Makkal Selvan. Vijay Sethupathi! You just held it all together with effortless ease.”

The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani and Ronnie Screwvala, and also features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Rajkummar Rao in pivotal roles. The film also has some exciting cameos by actors like Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte, who have previously worked with Raghavan in his acclaimed films like Andhadhun and Badlapur. Merry Christmas is a crime thriller that revolves around a mysterious murder that takes place on Christmas Eve.

The film marks the first collaboration between Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif, who are known for their versatility and charisma. The film also marks Raghavan’s return to the big screen after a gap of five years, since his last film Andhadhun, which won him several awards and accolades.
