Modi's anger against EPS - Is TN downgrading the total numbers of cases?

Despite strengthening the mechanisms to curb the spread of the Coronavirus in the country, India has been reporting with surging cases as 1,965 people were confirmed positive for the virus and the country has recorded 50 deaths - 12 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The Prime Minister's office has been observing the rise of more cases with more concern and Modi is been regularly contacting and discussing the developments with the Union Health Ministry and all the state governments towards gripping up the measures to combat the spread of the virus and while the Prime Minister reached out to Tamil Nadu Edappadi Palaniswami, our sources say that Modi has expressed his dissatisfaction and disappointment over Tamil Nadu's action for containing the virus. When we asked the authorities attached to the revenue department, they say that the Chief Minister was told that the virus won't affect the state as it has been going through the summer season and with that thought, the state government has pedaled in the slow pace to counter the virus.

Although a curfew under section 144 has been imposed, the government has merged most of the departments under the tag of essential services and directed the employees to report to their duties. The Central Intelligence had taken a note of it along with the statements made by some of the state council ministers. Intelligence has recorded that the government has been failing to contain the people gathering by having less concern to implement the nationwide lockdown imposed by the Prime Minister and the agency has disclosed its reports to Delhi.

Our sources stated that in its report, Intelligence has mentioned that the Tamil Nadu government didn't stock up the adequate mechanisms as most of the doctors at the government hospitals are running out of gloves and the medical facilities are facing shortages in the ventilators, and isolation wards to quarantine the affected and asymptomatic patients. By having these reports, Prime Minister Modi has reached out to the Chief Minister and expressed his anger and disappointment and questioned the Chief Minister why the state ministers have been accompanied by most of the people behind them and why are they giving interviews regularly.

The government must prioritize to deploy adequate medical measures. By stating that the secretaries can update the people on the developments, the Prime Minister expressed his disappointment to the Chief Minister. After concluding the meet with the Prime Minister, Edappadi Palaniswami has installed nine special teams that consist of the IAS and IPS officers to review and deploy the measures and the Chief Minister directed the Health Minister not to appear for the press meets rather the Health Secretary can officially address the press on the latest developments. The Revenue department officials stated that it was after this directive, Health Secretary Beela Rajesh is addressing the reporters directly.

Edappadi Palaniswami has taken a serious note from Modi after which the state government has issued fresh orders to restrict the movements of the people including reducing the functioning hours of essential services like fuel stations and restaurants and the government has advised the people to stock all the essential items at one shot to avoid unnecessary travels. On March 29th, the Chief Minister chaired a meeting with the IAS officers of the special team and when we reached out to one of the officers who attended the meet, he told us that the Chief Minister has directed to roll out all the possible preventive measures to contain the spread of the virus in the state. Palaniswami iterated that Tamil Nadu must become the virus-free state and the Prime Minister shouldn't express his disappointment on the government's mechanisms to curb the spread of the virus.

On March 30th, the Tamil Nadu Health Department has said that the state has screened 2,09,284 passengers at the airports so far of which 74,533 people are under home quarantined while 364 are isolated at the hospitals. However, the Health department officials say that the government has been downgrading the numbers of the total affected cases and reveal that the state has still to be rescued from the danger level and the government must grip up the mechanisms to rescue the people and it has to deploy additional doctors and it has to enhance the testing capacity of knowing the results of the samples in two hours.
