Thalapathy Vijay’s fans were in for a treat when the first single from his much-awaited film Leo, ‘Naa Ready’, dropped on June 22. The catchy song, composed by Anirudh Ravichander and crooned by Vijay himself along with Asal Kolaar, showcases the actor’s swagger and style as a badass gangster. But not everyone is ready to groove to the song, as it has also stirred up controversy for allegedly endorsing smoking, drinking, and rowdyism among the youth.

A Chennai-based social activist filed a police complaint against Vijay and the makers of Leo for glorifying substance abuse and violence in the song. He also demanded that the song be removed from the film and YouTube. Meanwhile, some netizens also criticized Vijay for setting a bad example for his fans and followers by endorsing unhealthy habits.

In a delicate response to the recent controversy, the Leo team has taken subtle measures by incorporating disclaimers into the visuals of the smoking scenes of the actor in 'Naa Ready' song on YouTube. These disclaimers serve to clarify that the smoking and drinking scenes depicted in the video are solely for cinematic purposes and do not reflect the personal views or opinions of the actor involved.

While the team has refrained from making an official statement or announcing any modifications to the song's video or audio, their approach of including disclaimers aims to address concerns gaining good response. Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is slated to hit the screens on October 19.

The film also stars Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Menon, Priya Anand, Mathew Thomas, Mansoor Ali Khan, Mysskin, and Sandy among others in pivotal roles.  The film is expected to be a high-octane action entertainer with Vijay playing a ruthless gang leader. The film’s teaser and poster have already generated a lot of hype among fans and trade circles.
