One week run of Vaathi! Here's how the Dhanush's bilingual earned at box office

Dhanush first Tamil and Telugu bilingual Vaathi is slowly pacing forward at the box office. The actors' performance is being loved by the both tamil and Telugu audience, who are thoroughly admiring the social drama.Vaathi directed by Venky Atluri, which has now zoomed past Rs 60 crores at the worldwide box office collections, and is still going strong. Vaathi started well at the box office and collected Rs 2.65 crore on its opening day. In Tamil Nadu, the film has remained sturdy since release.

The overall collection 'Vaathi'/'Sir' reportedly stands at around Rs 70 crore at the end of day 7 from February 17th to 23rd, and as per film trackers' reports,  the film is expected to surpass Rs 100 crore at the end of its second week as the weekend is approaching. The film titled as Sir in Telugu and the music composed by GV Prakash Kumar.

The film garnered 15 -16 crores around in overseas, and 22 crores in Andhra Pradesh, 5 crores in Karnataka. Vaathi is presented by Srikara Studios and produced by Suryadeva Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments and Sai Soujanya of Fortune Four Cinemas.Vaathi is Dhanush's second consecutive hit, following last year's Tamil drama Thiruchitrambalam, which grossed more than 100 crore during its theatrical run.

In this film from the 1990s, Dhanush portrays Balamurugan, a teacher at a young age. The film focuses on the privatisation of the education system and one man's efforts to combat it. In a press conference held prior to the release of Vaathi, director Venky Atluri stated that incidents from his time as a student inspired him to create the film.

Samyuktha Menon plays the leading lady. In Telugu, the film is titled Sir. Seven Screen Studio, owned by Lalit Kumar, acquired the rights to distribute the film in Tamil Nadu. Samuthirakani, Tanikella Bharani, Sai Kumar, Bharathiraja, and Sumanth among others played in important roles. Dhanush’s upcoming movies include Captain Miller directed by Arun Matheswaran and second Telugu debut with director Shekhar Kammula, and the actor also has his second directorial D50.
