Over 130 Ukrainians die as Russia boosts its invasion...Bombings in Kyiv for the first time since World War 2

Ukrainian capital Kyiv has been bracing up the storm of Russian invasion and incessant bombings for the first time since the Second World War, which has outlined the magnitude of the conflict and Moscow's arbitrary determination to recoup its control on what has been an independent country for three decades. Russia aims to install a pro-Kremlin government in Kyiv after capturing the heart of Ukraine.

Upon the order from President Vladimir Putin, Russian forces began their full-scale invasion into Ukraine on all fronts. The invaders storm into some of the largest cities of the former Soviet Colony by road and air and the regions went into dusk. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians have been fleeing from their home cities in search of safe shelters. While a section of people is on the run, several others have found refuge in metro stations, subways, and tunnels as the Russian forces are bombing what had been vibrant and bustling cities.

Being termed the biggest attack on a European state since the second World War, Ukraine's human settlement has been scattered after the invasion and the country has reported hundreds of casualties and large-scale destructions. It has been reported that Russia is playing the war game to topple the Ukrainian government and put up a leader supportive of Putin. Kremlin vows for such transition to ensure that Ukraine won't fall towards the western influence.

Friday - February 25 is the second day of the Russian invasion and Ukraine's neighbour-turned-adversary has been able to capture Kyiv within a day of entering the country. As Russian troops advance, Ukrainians and thousands of foreign nationals are in a perilous state while the global countries have been condemning Russia for waging an unprovoked war and the US, the UK, and several countries have released a slew of sanctions on Russia to strike Putin economically.

Amid losing control over Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has addressed the nation on Thursday night during which he said that 137 people had been killed, and 316 have been wounded so far, after Russia had launched a full-scale invasion by land, sea, and air. The President said that the death toll includes Ukrainian soldiers and civilians.

As Ukraine has closed its airspace, the sky was filled with Russian military jets as they continue to bomb the country and their target particularly include Ukraine's military establishments. Putin, before directing a military operation, had warned the Ukrainian troops to put down their arms and leave or face bloodshed. Several Ukrainian cities like Kharkiv - close to Russia, Kherson, Odessa, and Mariupol have witnessed explosions.

Russia primarily has a supportive base in the eastern part of Ukraine in the Donbas region where Moscow has been backing the outfits of separatists who fight the Ukrainian forces against the government's move towards joining the West and NATO. Putin had earlier declared Ukraine's Donetsk and Luhansk in Donbas as independent states. Global observers have said that though Kremlin had put these two regions in its kitty, Putin comes up with the objective of capturing entire Ukraine and ousting the current regime.

Russia's defence ministry has said ground forces had moved in from annexed Crimea, and claimed to have neutralized Ukraine's air defences and destroyed 11 airfields, with Russian troops also seizing an airbase just 25 miles from Kyiv. As Ukraine's forces are being dwarfed before the mighty Russians, Kyiv has reported setbacks in countering the invasion. Russia has planned to seize control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and this plan has drawn a claim from the Ukrainian president that Russia has declared a war against the whole of Europe.

On Thursday, Zelensky had declared martial law in Ukraine, which grants the military to take control of the country temporarily. The law has also cut down diplomatic ties with Moscow and hours before the invasion, Ukraine's parliament had approved a law allowing citizens to bear firearms. The government has also ordered men to join the fight while women and children are fleeing their homes and homeland.

From the hearts of Ukrainian citizens, no one was ready for a war and they hadn't expected a military clampdown on their homes and streets. Speaking to the Associated Press, a Ukraine national said, "Nobody believed that this war would start, and that they would take Kyiv directly. I feel mostly fatigued. None of it feels real". As governments fight, millions of people are left in a lurch and they began starving amid living in uncertainty with the hope for peace and dawn.
