After receiving a guard of honour for his film Kennedy at the recent Cannes Film Festival, director Anurag Kashyap spoke publicly about his admiration for Tamil cinema and his desire to collaborate with one of the industry's most lauded figures, Lokesh Kanagaraj. Kashyap revealed his desire to join the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) and have a heroic death in one of his films to a Tamil web portal.

“I want to do a death scene in Lokesh’s film. He gives glorious death to his actors. I want to die in one of his films. I just don’t need a role. I need to just die in a glorious way in his film,” Kashyap said, adding that he was blown away by Lokesh’s films like Vikram and Kaithi.

Kashyap also praised Vijay Sethupathi, who plays the lead role in Lokesh’s upcoming film Viduthalai, which Kashyap watched and loved. He said that Sethupathi is a generous actor and there is so much to learn from him. “Just by looking into Vijay Sethupathi’s eye, one can become a better actor,” he said.

Kashyap also expressed his admiration for another Tamil filmmaker, Vetrimaaran, and called Viduthalai his best film to date. He said that he wants to do a superhero film one day and that he loves telling long-form stories. Kashyap’s comments have created a buzz among the fans of LCU and Tamil cinema, who are hoping to see him collaborate with Lokesh Kanagaraj or Vetrimaaran in the future. 

Anurag Kashyap, the acclaimed Bollywood filmmaker and actor, has been vocal about his love for Tamil cinema and especially for Sasikumar’s debut film Subramaniapuram. The two filmmakers have also shown interest in collaborating with each other in the future. Kashyap has said that he would love to cast Sasikumar in one of his films and that he is waiting for him to direct another film soon. Sasikumar has also said that he would be honoured to work with Kashyap and that he is a fan of his style and vision.
