Following the procession, Rahul Gandhi addressed the rally during which he unleashed the fresh attacks against the Modi led Central government. In his speech, Gandhi compared Narendra Modi with Nathuram Godse, who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi and he claimed that Modi and Godse believed in the same ideology.

Rahul Gandhi stated that Modi is creating an atmosphere of hatred and he has the same ideology as Godse and there is no difference except that Modi doesn't have the guts to say he believes in the ideology of Godse. Gandhi directly attacked Modi on the amended Citizenship law.

By stating that Indians are forced to prove that they are Indians, Gandhi said that "who is Narendra Modi to decide who is an Indian and who gave Modi the license to ask for my Indianness? I know I am an Indian and I don't have to prove it to anyone. Likewise, 1.4 billion Indians do not have to prove that they are Indians" he alleged. Rahul Gandhi's march showcased the pressure that has been mounted against the Central government on CAA and Congress ruling Chhatisgarh state is likely to become the fifth Indian state to adopt the anti-CAA resolution in the assembly followed by Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.
