Soon Sivagana to host Parliamentary by-elections?

The Parliamentary constituency of Sivagana in the state of Tamil Nadu has been clouded with the anticipations that it will go for parliamentary by-election after the reports have cited the possibilities that the current Lok Sabha MP Karti Chidambaram will also be detained under money laundering and scam followed by his father and former Indian Finance minister P Chidambaram, who has been lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi under INX Media case.

P Chidambaram had celebrated his 74th birthday in Tihar jail complex with the hope to get granted with bail as the former minister had tabled his bail petition in Delhi High court after which the high court bench had issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation on granting the bail. It has been reported that Chidambaram has been entitled with the facilities in the prison as directed by the CBI special court. He has been put up in seventh block of Tihar jail which houses the economic criminals and defaulters where the other similar inmates have been observing close ties with the former minister while some of our sources had said that the inmates had conveyed to Chidambaram that his son Karti, while he was in Tihar, had observed good relationship will all the inmates. Days after, the prison authorities had told that Chidambaram had found good bond between the inmates and he assured some of the inmates that he will extend his legal help and support for their cases after he leave the prison.

P Chidambaram has been met by his legal team, his wife and his son separately where he expressed his disbelief that he won't be granted with immediate bail and further stated that he would certainly be inside the prison for few more days. His legal team and senior advocates of Supreme court had cited that he will have the possibilities of getting bail only when he file a review petition in the Supreme court and further revealed that even if Chidambaram be granted with bail, the Enforcement Directorate is been preparing to arrest him again for the case of money laundering booked against him last year. While the pictures of Chidambaram have been occupied with uncertainty, the reports indicate that the Central government has now targeted his son towards suspending his eligibility of being a MP in Lok Sabha.

While questioned about the burning heatwaves in Chidambaram's family, our reliable sources had said that Karti Chidambaram has been accused for money laundering and scam while he sold out the land in Muttukadu, Chennai which belongs to his mother Nalini Chidambaram while Karti and his wife Srinithi were the legal stakeholders for the land. Karti has been accused that he illegally sold out the land to Christy food industries, which supplies ration goods to Tamil Nadu government, through the businessman in the period of 2015-16. The reports say that the land which was certified that it was sold directly to Christy food industries, but it went through the mediation of a businessman. While the Income tax department had raided the premises of Christy food industries, they had acquired the legal documents of the company which had revealed that it had dispatched 3.65 crores legally and 1.35 crores illegally to Karti Chidambaram as the payment for acquiring his land in Chennai. Based on this evidence, the Income tax department had filed a case against Karti and Nalini Chidambaram in 2018 in Egmore court and the reports stated that Karti Chidambaram will less likely have the prospects to prevent himself in this case.

As Karti Chidambaram has currently been elected as a MP, this case was recently transferred to the special court that investigates the cases against MPs and MLAs from Egmore court after which Karti had filed a petition to rule out the transfer in Madras High court. While hearing the case, the Madras High court had rejected his petition and further indicated that the final verdict will be pronounced soon in this case. It has been reported that if Karti has been convicted in the case, he will be awarded with imprisonment of more than two years that would merely suspend his membership in Lok Sabha after which the people of Sivagana will cast their vote for parliamentary by-election.
