Soori has been part of the film industry for more than 25 years now. He started acting in 1996 and spoke his first on-screen dialogue with veteran comedian Goundamani in Sundar C’s ‘Kannan Varuvaan’ in 2000. He rose to fame with his hilarious parotta comedy sequence in ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’ (2009) and went on to act with top stars like Vijay, Ajith, Suriya and Dhanush.

The socio-political thriller, Viduthalai released in theatres worldwide, showcased Soori’s acting prowess and proved that he can carry a film on his shoulders. Vetrimaaran had launched Soori as a hero with ‘Viduthalai’, which was based on a short story by writer Chellappa.

The latest update from sources is that Soori  is all set to play the hero in a new movie directed by Durai Senthilkumar of ‘Kaaki Sattai’ and ‘Kodi’ fame. The exciting news is that the script for this untitled project, which is said to be set in Madurai backdrop, will be penned by none other than ace filmmaker Vetrimaaran. This will be the third collaboration between Soori and Vetrimaaran, after the critically acclaimed blockbuster hit ‘Viduthalai’, which released its one of two parts.

After turned heads with his performance in ‘Viduthalai’, Soori has been getting more opportunities to play the lead role in different genres. He is currently acting in ‘Kottukkaali’, directed by Vinodraj of ‘Koozhangal’ fame and produced by actor Sivakarthikeyan. He has also committed to act as a main lead in another film directed by Ameer of ‘Paruthiveeran’ fame.

The new film with Durai Senthilkumar will be another feather in Soori’s cap, as Durai is known for his commercial entertainers with a social message. He has worked as an assistant director to Vetrimaaran before making his debut with ‘Ethir Neechal’ (2013). He has also directed films like ‘Kaaki Sattai’, ‘Kodi’ and ‘Pattas’.
