The duo, Simbu and Nelson Dilipkumar, who had teamed up for a shelved project called ‘Vettai Mannan’ in 2013, are reportedly planning to revive it soon. Yes, you heard it right. The film that was supposed to be Nelson’s debut as a director, but got dropped halfway due to budget issues, might see the light of the day after all.

‘Vettai Mannan’ is an action thriller that revolves around the life of an international assassin, played by Simbu. The film also features Jai, Hansika, Deeksha Seth, Santhanam, Poonam Kaur, VTV Ganesh and Redin Kingsley in supporting roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja had composed the music for the film earlier. The film's teaser also revamped social media, which hints the project's possibility to go up.

The buzz is that Nelson and Simbu are keen to resume the shooting of ‘Vettai Mannan’ as they are at the peak of their careers. Nelson, who made his debut with Nayanthara’s ‘Kolamaavu Kokila’ in 2018, has delivered back-to-back hits with Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Doctor’ and Vijay’s ‘Beast’. He is also awaiting the release of his next with Superstar Rajinikanth’s‘Jailer’, which is produced by Sun Pictures.

Simbu, on the other hand, made a stunning comeback with Venkat Prabhu’s ‘Maanaadu’ in 2021 and gave back-to-back hits like ‘Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’, ‘PathuThala’. He also has a project with Vels International, STR 48, and an untitled film to be directed by the actor himself.

However, it is not clear whether the makers will retain the same cast and crew of ‘Vettai Mannan’ or make some changes. It is also uncertain whether they will use the old footage or re-shoot the entire film. We have to wait for an official confirmation from the team.
